New station platforms

Mon, 05 November, 2018

Construction of platforms began with the installation of precast panels.

These panels were cast from concrete in reusable moulds, and left to dry and cure offsite. Panels were transported to the construction site and lifted into place using cranes.

The City-bound and Seaford-bound platforms were formed using ‘L’ shaped precast panels, which sit either side of the rail tracks and are the visible walls of the platforms.

Once each precast panel was lifted into place, electrical and data cabling was fed behind the panels then back filled and finished with a top coat of concrete to create a flat level that can be walked on by rail passengers using the station.
