Interruptions to services
When working next to live rail, temporary service closures – or occupations – may be required to complete works safely. This may be in the form of over-night works when the first and last services of the day are cancelled, weekend works when services are cancelled for the entire weekend, or longer occupations, usually scheduled for school holidays.
The PTP Alliance works closely with rail operations to schedule works to keep occupations to a minimum and to avoid times of heavy use such as during events.
When working on roads that carry buses, impacts on services may be experienced including temporary detours or bus timetable changes. Construction projects may also require the temporary or permanent relocation of bus stops or Park ‘n’ Ride facilities.
