Traffic successfully ‘switched’ a second time to enable bridgeworks to continue
Morphett Road traffic was successfully ‘switched’ for the second time on Sunday 7 October 2018.
Over the weekend, during an occupation of the rail track, the boom gates and road traffic were diverted onto the new western side of the Morphett Road bridge.
This new diversion allows the crossing to stay open while the project begins bridgeworks on the eastern side of the Morphett Road area.
Once completed, the Morphett Road bridge will span over the future lowered Oaklands Railway Station and railway line. The bridge will be positioned at the current ground level, with the new lowered station and rail line travelling underneath.
