Soil nailing and shotcreting works underway
The Oaklands Crossing team has removed approximately 65% of the total amount of soil that needs to be excavated and the lowered rail corridor is starting to take shape.
Soil nails are driven 2 metres deep into the earth walls and set in place with concrete. Steel reinforcement is then attached to the walls and shotcrete sprayed over the nails and steel at high velocity. These works provide support to the walls. The team can then proceed to excavate the next level down to repeat the process.
