Soil nailing and shotcreting works
Mon, 17 September, 2018
The Oaklands Crossing team removed soil, installed soil nails and supported the new walls with shotcrete while bulk excavating in levels to create the new rail corridor.
Soil nails are driven 2 metres deep into the earth walls and set in place with concrete. Steel reinforcement is then attached to the walls and shotcrete sprayed over the nails and steel at high velocity. These works provide support to the walls. The team can then proceed to excavate the next level down to repeat the process.
