Roll in the rail infrastructure

Thu, 14 March, 2019

The first delivery of rail track arrived at the project site in late February. Each rail length measures 27.5 metres.

The project team has started to weld the rail into 165 metre lengths. Welded rail will then be transported to the new rail corridor and into position for installation. The project will install a total of 4,730 metres of rail and 3,530 concrete sleepers.

Installation of offline track will start in in coming week, with the remainder of the track installed online during the connection works, requiring a three-week temporary rail line closure.

Information on the temporary rail line closure will be provided in the coming days, and substitute buses will be available, with trains running between Seaford and Brighton, and substitute buses between Brighton and Adelaide City.
