Roll in the rail infrastructure

Thu, 14 March, 2019

The first delivery of rail track arrived at the project site in late February. Each rail length measures 27.5 metres.

The project team welded the rail into 165 metre lengths. Welded rail was then be transported to the new rail corridor and placed into position for installation. The project installed a total of 4,730 metres of rail and 3,530 concrete sleepers.

Installation of offline track started in the following weeks, with the remainder of the track installed online during the occupation connection works, which required a three-week temporary rail line closure.

Information on the temporary rail line closure was provided, and substitute buses were made available, with trains running between Seaford and Brighton, and substitute buses between Brighton and Adelaide City.
