In August 2022, the PTP Alliance invited students from the Immaculate Heart of Mary School to participate in Rail Safety Week 2022.

“Rail Safety Week is an annual community awareness week held in Australia and New Zealand, designed to engage the community in safe rail practices.” ¹

The PTP Alliance held an interactive presentation at the site office, that focused on the importance of rail safety, how to be safe when crossing rail lines and some of the recent pedestrian crossing changes in the area.

Students participated in a rail safety quiz and were awarded prizes for participation.

Students also visited the local pedestrian crossings along the rail lines at Ovingham. Students learnt about the safety awareness at both passive and active pedestrian crossings.

Students and teachers enjoyed the tour and feel more confident using the active and passive pedestrian crossings in the Ovingham area.
