Planning a Butterfly Garden

Mon, 19 September, 2022

As part of the PTP Alliance's Wildlife Program, the PTP Alliance Deidre and Steve from Bringing Back the Butterflies have been working with the Year 3 and 4 students at Brompton Primary School to learn about butterflies and how to design and plant a butterfly garden.

In mid-August 2022, Deidre and Steve met with the Brompton Primary School students and were impressed when they saw the butterfly research displayed on the classroom walls – including a planting plan for the butterfly garden!

Deidre and Steve worked with students to refine their planting plan, ensuring the right plant species were selected for the local area, with suitable spacing between the plants to promote plant growth, to improve the success of the butterfly garden.

Members of the project team participated in the planning day and are proud to be involved in activities which contribute to STEM education in local schools.

We’re looking forward to later this month when help students to plant tube stock for the butterfly garden.

The PTP Alliance loves getting involved with the local community, so if you are a local school or eager to get involved in the project, please contact the community engagement team by emailing ovinghamcrossing@ptpa.com.au or calling 1300 613 533.
