Piling rig arrival on site at Oaklands Crossing
Thu, 28 June, 2018
A 36 metre high piling rig arrived on site on 27 June 2018. The rig was used to construct footings for the pedestrian bridge at the eastern end of the station as well as the Morphett Road bridge that spans over the lowered rail line.
The piling rig uses a Continuous Flighted Augur (CFA) or 'screw pile' to drill a total of 141 piles each around 15-20 metres in depth to support the bridge structures using concrete and reinforcing wire cages.
