Piling completed 4 weeks ahead of schedule

Wed, 01 August, 2018

In August, the large piling rig was removed from the Oaklands Crossing project site after the team installed 141 piles 4 weeks ahead of schedule. Piling is the construction of columns in the ground that provide vertical and horizontal support to a structure such as a bridge or retaining wall by connecting to stable soil or rock.

At Oaklands Crossing, the team used a continuous flight auger (CFA) piling method. CFA piling involves drilling into the ground, injecting concrete and then inserting a steel reinforcing cage. For more information about piling, refer to the Piling Fact Sheet.
