Opening of the shared pedestrian and cyclist bridge
The project has been working on assembling the bridge since October when it arrived on site. In early November, the bridge was lifted into place and works continued to complete the installation.
From Thursday 20 December, the bridge is open for public use. Opening the bridge provides commuters and residents with additional access to the existing railway station and surrounding area.
The bridge was constructed off-site by SA family business Bowhill Engineering, who are also constructing the canopy for the new station. When the new rail corridor is installed, the bridge will sit 5.4 metres above the rail line to provide pedestrian and cyclist access across the new underpass, at the eastern end of the station.
