Mural artwork
As part of their ongoing work with the local community for the Ovingham Level Crossing Removal project, the PTP Alliance has collaborated with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport’s Rail Care Team and Novita, to commission mural artwork in the project area.
Novita art students were invited to participate in designing a collaborative mural, to be painted on a fence, behind the new nature play and butterfly garden area, as part of the Ovingham Level Crossing Removal project.
The artwork theme was ’what makes you happy’. The students designed individual artworks, with many choosing to create a nature-inspired piece. Some students focused on butterfly designs, as students from the Brompton Primary School were engaged to plant a butterfly garden next to the fence in early November 2022.
In late October 2022, professional artist, Adam Poole-Mottishaw, combined the students’ artworks to make a large mural. Adam and his daughter then spent a week painting the mural.
The completed mural is a colourful, eye-catching artwork, that complements the nature play area. Thank you to the art students at Novita for their involvement and beautiful designs!
