Major works during January 2022
Major works are planned to be carried out continuously from 1am, Thursday, 6 January until 6am, Saturday 22 January 2022 (weather permitting).
These works include:
• an upgrade to the intersection of Torrens Road and Chief Street;
• an upgrade to the junction of Torrens Road and Churchill Road; and
• railway track upgrades at the Torrens Road level crossing.
Day and night works will be undertaken during this period. To safely undertake these works, a series of changed traffic conditions will be in place including temporary road closures, speed and lane restrictions.
Some noise disturbances can be expected at times while these works are completed, however the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to nearby residents and businesses as much as practically possible.

Construction updates, including more specific information about these upcoming works, will be issued to the local community closer to the start date of the works.
From 6am, Thursday, 6 January to 6am, Friday, 14 January 2022 (weather permitting) works are planned to be carried out during the day and night along Torrens Road and Chief Street.
- Torrens Road will be temporarily closed, between West Street and Hayman Street; and
- Chief Street will be temporarily closed, between Torrens Road and north of the OTR driveway.
From 7am, Friday, 14 January to 6am, Saturday, 22 January 2022 (weather permitting) works will be carried out during the day and night along Torrens Road and Churchill Road.
- Torrens Road will be temporarily closed, between Fitzroy Terrace and Drayton Street; and
- Churchill Road will be temporarily closed, between Torrens Road and Avenue Road.
Railway works
Railway works are also planned to be carried out during the day and night at the Torrens Road Level crossing while this section of Torrens Road is already temporarily closed to facilitate the other works planned.
These railway works are planned to occur from 1am, Thursday, 6 January to 6am, Saturday 22 January 2022 (weather permitting).
Traffic management and detours
Detours will be in place to direct motorists as required. Please see the map inserts for alternate routes and more information. Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time and take extra care when workers are on site. Observe speed limits, lane restrictions and traffic controllers when travelling through the area.
Temporary pedestrian and cyclist changes
The works will require temporary pedestrian and cyclist detours. Please follow the site signage and traffic controllers.
Access to properties
Access to business and residential properties will be maintained throughout the works wherever possible. Advance notice will be provided in advance if there is a need to temporarily restrict driveway access.
Temporary public transport changes
Public transport services will be temporarily impacted along Torrens Road and Churchill Road.
Adelaide Metro buses will be detoured during the closures. Advance notice signage will be in place at bus stops to advise passengers of the detours.
