Easter Rail Closure

Thu, 30 April, 2020

The Easter long weekend marked a milestone for the Meyer Road Bridge Replacement Project following a successful "Easter Rail Closure" .

In the lead up to the works a 400T Crane was bought to site and assembled in the days leading up to the rail closure. The crane played an essential part in the works that occurred, including demolishing and removing the existing bridge deck. The deck was saw-cut into 3 sections with each section weighing approximately 30 Tonnes; these were then carefully lifted and removed.

Following demolition works, 6 x 21 metre beams were then lifted in and installed by the crane.

Many thanks to the teams who worked day and night shifts throughout the long weekend and completed all scheduled works on time.
