The intersection was upgraded to a signalised intersection, to help with traffic flow in the local area.

The project worked night shift from December 2018, to install underground traffic signals and road lighting conduits in the two busy roads. Next the project focused on stormwater, kerb demolition, pavement widening and asphalting works.

The existing pedestrian crossing on Diagonal Road, just north of Dunrobin Road, was shifted further south, to line up with the new signals.

The project continued night shift to undertake the works, with some days works included. During works, there continue to be lane and speed restrictions in place, with traffic intrusive works done outside of peak hours.

The new signalised intersection was completed in April 2019.
