Plans for Port Dock railway line, station and bus interchange released
Concept designs have been prepared and are now available for public comment. The concepts are also being reviewed by the State Commission Assessment Panel (SCAP) as part of the Development Application process.
The project will reconstruct and duplicate the spur line from the existing Outer Harbor line at Grand Junction Road and construct a new railway station at Baker Street. The new station will be located on the doorstep of the Dock One waterfront redevelopment, which will include more than 750 new townhouses and apartments, a refurbished Marine and Harbours building and waterfront boardwalk.
A bus interchange will also be constructed as part of the overall Port Dock Project. Bus services, routes and layover locations will be reviewed as part of the design process to ensure future integration of bus and rail services.
Early investigations, survey, design work and stakeholder engagement have started, with site mobilisation and early works planned for the second quarter of 2019.
The construction schedule is currently being developed and will be finalised once sufficient design has been completed.
